Francis Hewlett, RWA (b. 1930) 'The 'Empire' in Darkness' Pencil Signed lower right, dated 1950 lower left 18cm x 25cm Hewlett was born in Bristol and studied painting and etching at West of England College of Art between 1948 and 1952. From 1981 he concentrated on pictures of the Bristol Empire theatre, based on much earlier drawings (such as the example offered here).
