Notes

Francis Carr and Sarah Firmin (see lots 31-34) were pioneers of screenprinting in the late 1940's. They have been credited with producing some of the first screenprints to be made in this country and for introducing the medium to a number of artists including Eduardo Paolozzi. (Reba & David Williams, Print Quarterly, 'The Later History of the Screenprint', December 1987)
