Portrait of Richard Wood, seated three-quarter-length, in legal robes, holding a scroll in his right hand; and Portrait of Richard Wood, three-quarter-length, in a brown coat, holding a cane in his right hand and a tricorn in his left hand oil on canvas, oval 173/4 x 143/4 in. (45 x 37.5 cm.) a pair (2) PROVENANCE By descent in the family of the sitter at Hollin Hall. NOTES Richard Wood (1712-1797) was the second son of John Wood of Copmanthorpe and Hollin Hall, Yorkshire, and his wife Frances. On the death of his elder brother John, in 1778, he inherited Hollin Hall. He married Elizabeth (d.1797), second daughter of Hutton Perkins, of Mill Hill, Middlesex, in 1745.
