Related to two other red-chalk drawings, also showing a reclining youthful male nude seen from behind, in the Uffizi (inv. 10618F and 10636F; A. Masetti, Cecco Bravo: pittore toscano del Seicento, Venice, 1962, no. 173, fig. 94; A. Barsanti and R. Contini, Cecco Bravo: pittore senza regola, Milan, 1999, no. 30). The pose of the figure, both here and in the Uffizi drawings, suggests the theme of Narcissus admiring his reflection in a pool, although no painting of this subject by Cecco Bravo is known.
