The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the buyer. The auctioneer has the right to reject any bid, to advance the bidding at his absolute discretion and bid increment, and, in the event of any dispute between bidders, to determine the successful bidder or to re offer and resell the lot in dispute. Should there be any discrepancy of price after the sale, Castner's record shall be conclusive.

Castner's reserves the right to withdraw, add, amend, or change any lot before or at the sale. Catalogues are provided for convenience of selling and are not to be relied upon for any purpose.

The purchase price on any sale advertised shall be the sum of the final bid and a buyer's premium of 15% of that bid (2% Discount for Cash & Checks).

All sales in New Jersey are with reserve unless advertised to the contrary. However, Castner's does not normally operate with reserves or minimums. Any reserves are usually set below our pre-sale estimates.

Title of the offered lot shall pass to the buyer upon the fall of the auctioneer's hammer (when announced sold). The Buyer shall immediately assume full risk and responsibility of the lot. Our staff will either hand the buyer the lot or place it in a convenient location. It is advisable that buyers take possession of purchased items and remove them as soon as possible. We are not responsible for misplaced, stolen, or left goods. Items purchased at gallery sales which are at the gallery for 4 days or more become our possession and the buyer relinquishes any right to said item(s), or any compensation. Leaving items at any on-site auction is done solely at the risk of the buyer.

The buyer shall, at the time of purchase, pay any sales tax which is applicable. A properly completed NJ ST3 Resale certificate must be on file prior to purchase to exempt such tax. Buyers of motor vehicles shall pay tax upon registration at Division of Motor Vehicles.

There is a $25 returned check fee.

If you are the successful bidder your credit card will automatically be charged for your purchase price plus 15% buyer’s premium and 7% NJ state sales tax.

Bid limit for Artfact customers will beautomatically set at $500. Call or send a message before the sale to have this bid limit increased. We require a 10% credit card authorization for first time Castner Auction bidders.

Your items will automatically be shipped approximately 1 week after the sale and appropriate shipping and handling fees will be charged unless you pick up by March 3/31/10 at 4PM. Our office hours are generally 9AM-4PM but you should call to make sure someone will be in the office before you come by.

We generally ship USPS Priority mail with signature confirmation/insurance when appropriate.

NJ State Sales Tax is 7%. You will need to submit a properly completed ST3 Resale Certificate Form if you are tax exempt. You can fax to 973-948-3919 before the auction.
