Four Abel Warshawsky oils, ephemera (California, 1882-1962): butterfly signed and inscribed "A.G. Warshawsky/To Luisa A1-love", oil on tissue, 3-1/2 x 4 in., top right corner missing; butterfly signed "A-G. Warshawsky", oil on black paper, 4-1/2 x 6-1/8 in., crackle down center; butterfly inscribed "Dear Luisa/Happy Birthday love Ruthie Buck", oil on tissue, 4-1/2 x 5-1/8 in., creases, small tears, some surface abrasion; bowl of flowers inscribed "To Luisa love Buck, Ruth, Happy New Year", oil on tissue mounted to green paper, 8 x 4-3/4 in., glue stains, fading of paper, all unframed; with two books: Louis Balsam, Abel G. Warshawsky: Master Painter, Humanist, published by Carmel Valley Art Gallery, 1954, signed and inscribed on frontispiece "To Luisa, who is lovely & brave with dearest affection - Buck/A.G. Warshawsky/Dec. 54", wear to cloth cover and lithograph on front; and Warshawsky's Paris Unconquered, published by Wake-Brook House, 1957, bound in gold damask with outer cover, signed and inscribed " Luisa Byrd/as good as she is beautiful-with my dearest wishes and affection. Buck/A.G. Warshawsky/Monterey, Calif./Dec 24-57", wear to outer sleeve, (six pieces); lot accompanied by article on Buck Warshawsky and two exhibition flyers. Provenance : Luisa Byrd, niece of Luisa Dahlgren by descent in family of the late Admiral John A. Dahlgren, Eastern Shore, Virginia.
