8vo (230 x 141 mm). viii, 827, [1]; xix, [1], 735, [1] pp. Both volumes with additional engraved title and frontispiece, first title also with engraved dedication and two plates of facsimile handwriting. Period full reddish-brown morocco with heavy gilt decoration, a.e.g., fore-edge paintings to each volume. Joints rubbed, spines somewhat dry, light shelfwear.
Provenance: Great Exhibition of 1851 (label); Bernardine Murphy (bookplate).

FROM THE CRYSTAL PALACE EXHIBITION. Includes fore-edge paintings of Verona and of Venice. A label on the front pastedown of each volume states that these volumes were "selected from the Great Exhibition of 1851."
