2 volumes, 4o (278 x 215 mm), 2 additional engraved title-pages and 92 plates by Grieg after Clennell. Contemporary red straight-grained morocco gilt extra, all edges gilt concealing FINE FORE-EDGE PAINTINGS of Warksworth Castle, Northumberland and Carrick Castle (scuffed at the head of each spine, hinges weak). Provenance: William Hartmann Woodin (1868-1934), Industrialist and Secretary of the Treasury 1933 (bookplate); Carl I. Wheat (1892-1966), author of 1540-1861 Mapping the Transmississippi West.
