FIVE ARCHAISTIC JADE 'CICADA' ORNAMENTS

Late Qing Dynasty

Each drilled with a channel at the mouth for stringing, one of oval form with large protruding eyes, the reddish-brown stone with degraded surface and stained black in areas; one simply carved in stylized form, the underside carved in shallow relief with an animal's head above four pairs of feet, the beige stone mottled and stained black in areas; one of flattened form and incised with stylized details to depict the wings and body, the light celadon stone stained black on one side; one of elongated form and with a small head, the incised lines depicting wings and body, the pale stone stained brown in areas; one carved in low relief, the stone mottled and stained orange-brown.
