Jim Page-Roberts (b. 1925) Fishing Boat at Hastings signed with initials 'P.R.' (lower right), with studio stamp (on the reverse), signed again and inscribed 'FISHING BOAT AT/HASTINGS/BY/JAMES PAGE-ROBERTS (on a label attached to the reverse), signed and inscribed again 'JAMES PAGE-ROBERTS/FISHING BOAT AT HASTINGS (on a label attached to the reverse) oil on canvas laid down on board 16 x 22¼ in. (40.6 x 56.5 cm.) Painted in 1956.

Painted in the same year as the official opening of the Hastings Fisherman Museum, local people were very concerned about preserving the maritime history of Hastings. Aside from the fishing boat in the present work, the museum pulled one of the very last original fishing boats into the museum building.
