Condition Report

The canvas has been strip-lined along the tacking edges. There are some scattered areas of faint hairline craquelure and a few minor scattered spots of paint flaking, notably one circa 0.5cm just below the canopy, one in the ankle of the seated man, and a couple of small spots in the architecture towards the upper centre. Ultraviolet light reveals notably a circa 15 by 12cm area of restoration partly in the figure standing in the doorway and the architecture to the left of him (patched on the reverse), and a number of more minor scattered strokes of retouching, including some in the back of the figure on the left and the rest mostly in the architecture including a number near the arch in the upper right quadrant. The overall appearance of the painting is good and apart from the minor spots of paint flaking mentioned above the work is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative frame.
