Description

Ferdinand Seeboeck (Austrian 1864-1952) - Marble carved relief plaque of Edith Helena Mond (1873-1905), signed, inscribed and dated 'Roma 1906', white marble, diameter 54cm Footnote; Ferdinand Seeboeck was born in Vienna in 1864 and studied at the Vienna Academy. He met the Mond family while visiting Florence and their continued patronage helped him to open his own studios in Rome and Baden Baden. On his passing at the age of 88 he was celebrated as the last to go of the 'Old German Artist's Colony in Italy' Edith Helena Mond was the wife of Robert Mond, she died suddenly in childbirth while they were on excavations in Luxor.
