Notes

A regular exhibitor at the Academy (1878-85), Grosvenor and Suffolk Street (Royal Society of British Artists) Galleries, we know frustratingly little of Everton Sainsbury. His titles suggest romantic genre of an evocative character: Castles in the Air (1882) and A glimpse of the unknown. Child of the east end of London seeing butterflies for the first time. (1885), to name a few. Here Youth and Age are presented in sympathy, both contemplating scenes to which nostalgia or idealism have lent the pall of romance.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
