Eugenio Quarti (1867-1929): An Indian Rosewood, Silver, Copper and Mother-of-Pearl Quatrefoil Table, circa 1900, the circular glass top on four inlaid roundels, above a square shelf on a sinuous inlaid frame, signed in silver inlay E.Quarti, diameter 51cm, 68cm high Eugenio Quarti (b.1867) was born into a family of carpenters and at the age of 14 was apprenticed to a cabinetmaker in Paris. He spent a few weeks in Milan in the studio of Carlo Bugatti, and after a few months he established a small workshop in Via Donizetti. Quarti's earliest works were exhibited at the Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte Decorativa in Turin in 1898. His room at the 1906 Milan exhibition was destroyed by a fire.
