signed and dated Biarritz 1909 oil on canvas 35 by 45 in. 88.9 by 114.3 cm. Alvarez-Dumont studied in Madrid and Paris where he won the Prix de Rome. Although known better as a military painter, another scene of elegant figures at a cafe in Mar del Plata, Argentina was sold at Sotheby's London on the 14th February, 1990.
