Notes

Eugene von Bruenchenhein worked in a variety of media and, each body of work has its own distintive visual language. He created sculpture out of concrete, chicken bone or painted ceramic and found objects. The jagged forms of his evocative paintings suggest fantastic creatures or visionary landscapes and are executed in his trademark high-key palette and incised surfaces. He also undertook a decade-long series of photographs with his wife Marie as the main subject.
