Description

EUGENE LAURENT (FRENCH, 1832-1898)
Cast bronze. Pair of large- scale neoclassical figures of Eros and Psyche named in Greek on the base plaques. The winged, crouching Psyche is semi-draped and holds an oil lamp. The Eros, kneeling with drapery, holds a butterfly in one hand and a flaming torch in the other. Signed on the base tops. Foundry marks with two-headed dog and cattails, Paris AB on the tops of the bases. Figure H. 17.5." Mounted as lamps.

1. All items are sold WHERE IS & AS IS! The auctioneer makes no warranty, express or implies as to size, count weight, style, authenticity, period material or manufacturer, or any other warranty except as specified below.<br>
2. The catalog lists are a courtesy, meant as a descriptive guide only. The buyer is cautioned to use the preview to examine all merchandise and to use his/her best judgment as to whether or not the descriptions and categories are accurate.<br>

3. Title transfers to the customer at the fall of the hammer subject to the provisions above. From the moment the auctioneer will accept no returns excepted. Please be sure you are bidding on the correct item and have examined it carefully before placing a bid!<br>

4. The auctioneer reserved the right to refuse any and all bids, at his sole discretion, whether or not a reserve is in place, and will be the sole arbiter in any dispute. The auctioneer may, if he chooses, re-offer a disputed lot.<br>

Bids which are submitted to Stamford Auction Gallery in writing prior to auction for execution at or below a specified price (Order and telephone bids) shall be entertained and executed for the convenience of bidders not present at the auction and Stamford Auction Gallery will not be responsible for failing to execute such bids or for errors relating to the execution of such bids.<br>

6. A buyer's premium of 20% will be applied to the purchase price of all items. If you are bidding on ArtfactLive, please be prepared to bid quickly.<br>

7. Purchases must be removed from the gallery within ten business days following the date of the sale, or they become subject to a storage fee of $10.00 per item per day. Stamford Auction Gallery will not be held responsible for loss or damage to items left on premises over three business days.<br>

8. We must impose a service charge of $20.00 on any returned check.<br>

9. All payment, shipping or pickup arrangements MUST be made within four days of auction date.<br>

10. All purchases are subject to 6% Connecticut sales tax. Sales tax numbers from other states are accepted, but the resale tax form must be fully and completely filled out and received prior to time of purchase.<br>
