ETHAN ALLEN GREENWOOD, American, 1779-1856Pair of portraits.1) Sally Reed Sessions (1784-1834). Signed lower right "Greenwood Pinxt 1808". 2) Chester Sessions (1780-1848). Signed "Greenwood Pinxt" (rest is illegible). Ethan Allen Greenwood (b. Hubbardstown, Massachusetts) was a portrait painter, and began painting about 1801. He attended Dartmouth, studied law and in 1812 opened a studio in Boston. In 1818 he took over Savage's Museum. After his father's death in 1827, he returned to Hubbardstown, Massachusetts and later entered politics. Oil on canvas, 24" x 20" each. Framed.
