A pair of portraits of Mr and Mrs George Harter: he, wearing grey coat, white chemise and pale green tie; she, wearing white dress and lace edged veil wrapped about her neck, a pearl slide in her hair.
Both signed on the obverse E Rinzi, gold frames, both glazed on the reverse to reveal lock of hair on cream silk, he engraved on the reverse George Lloyde Foster Harter/ 1893; she engraved on the obverse Geraldine Harter Christmas 1889 and on the reverse Frances Geraldine Coke.
Oval, 49mm (1 15/16in) and 54mm (2 1/16in) high (2)

Frances Geraldine Coke was born circa 1867, the youngest of the 7 daughters and 3 sons of William Sacheverell Coke of Brookhill, Derbyshire. She married in April 1887, George Harter of Salperton Park, Gloucestershire, a J.P. and Barrister. Their eldest son James, born in 1889 was a second lieutenant in the Sherwood Rangers and died in Palestine during World War I. They had three further children, Francis John, Helen Elizabeth and Geraldine Nevill.
