Lot 135: Ernest Rinzi (British, 1836-1909)

A portrait of three Children of George Loyd Foster Harter (1852-1920): James Collier (1889-1917), Helen Elizabeth Frederica (b.1888) and Geraldine Nevill (b.1893), all seated; the former, wearing cream Russian-style smock with embroidery across his chest, white falling collar and cuffs, his brown hair worn short and parted to the right; his sister, Helen Elizabeth Frederica, wearing cream dress with two-tiered lace collar falling over her shoulders, coral necklace, her blonde hair curling and worn loose; her sister, Geraldine Nevill, wearing cream sleeveless dress, her neckline trimmed with lace, pale blue sash and ribbons to her shoulders, coral necklace, her blonde hair curled and worn short.
Signed on the obverse E. Rinzi, gilt-metal frame with pierced ribbon cresting, the reverse glazed to reveal three locks of the sitters' hair, the rim engraved Collier/ Frederica/ Nevill/ Foster Harter/ in Royal Academy.
