Notes

This work was acquired directly from the artist by the present owner's mother, Kay Walker, an artist and student at the Stanhope Forbes School of Painting, 1910 -1914. It was a birthday gift from Ernest and his wife Dod, circa 1930. It is thought to have been carved from the wood of a tree within the Procters' garden at North Corner, Newlyn, and later stained by Ernest. Procter is widely known as a painter, though he did create just a limited number of three dimensional works, one of which is The High Alter Cross: Christ in Glory, St. Hilary Church, Cornwall.
