Description

Ercole (Hercules) Dogliani - born in Turin on December 8, 1888. printmaker, painter and draftsman, he attended night school and worked as a messenger to the newspaper "La Stampa". Self-taught, in the years following the First World War and travels became known throughout Italy through the production of bookplates and portraits, including his self-portrait (1927), considered one of his most significant works. Shortly before his death takes over the printing shop at the Valentino Castle in Turin. Ercole Dogliani died prematurely in Turin, October 12, 1929 at the age of 40 years. Original woodcut, 1924, image approx. 6-1/4 x 5-1/4 in. plus margins. VG
