Emilio Zocchi studied under Girolamo Torrini, Aristodemo Costoli and Giovanni Dupré. Renowned for his genre studies executed in great detail, his most famous work is his marble study of the young Michelangelo. An example of the Michelangelo marble is in the Galleria Palatina, Palazzo Pitti, Florence, whilst another was sold at auction at Sotheby's Paris, April 1 2010, lot 176 39,000 euros. He was also commissioned to produce the bas relief decoration on the facade of Santa Croce, Florence.
