Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798); (+), his sale, Van der Schley, Amsterdam, 3 March 1800, lot 37, 'Een Brabandsche Kerk, van binnen te zien, war in een Altaar, Tombes, en Epitaficum, gestoffeerd met verscheidene Beelden, door Emanuel de Wit, op doek. Hoog 65, breed 53 dim.' [A Brabant church, interior with an altar, tombs, an epitaph, adorned with several figures, by Emanuel de Wit, on canvas, 167.3 x 136.4 cm.] (28 florins to 'Smid', probably the English dealer John Smith).
(Probably) John James Hamilton, 1st Marquess of Abercorn (1756-1818), and by descent; Christie's, London, 28 November 1975, lot 91 (unsold), and by descent.
