IN A CONTEMPORARY COMPOSITION FRAME PROVENANCE WITH BECKWITH & SON, HERTFORD, FROM WHOM PURCHASED BY URSULA, LADY WRAXALL IN JULY 1964 (LETTER FROM BECKWITH & SON, DATED 1 JUNE 1964, WITH ANNOTATIONS IN INK GIVING DETAILS OF THE PROVENANCE OF THE PICTURES, IN THE ARCHIVE AT TYNTESFIELD). NOTES THE SITTER, THE DAUGHTER OF COL. JOHN STANLEY HOWARD, OF BALLINA PARK, CO. WICKLOW, MARRIED SIR GORDON CUNARD (1857-1933), 4TH BT., IN 1889. HER HUSBAND WAS THE GRANDSON OF THE ENTREPRENEUR SIR SAMUEL CUNARD, 1ST BT., WHO HAD FOUNDED THE THE BRITISH AND NORTH AMERICAN ROYAL MAIL STEAM PACKET COMPANY WHICH ESTABLISHED A REGULAR MAIL SERVICE BETWEEN ENGLAND AND AMERICA.
