Elizabeth Wentworth Roberts (American, 1871-1927)

Sailing Along the Nile
Monogrammed and dated "ERW 1904" l.l.
Oil on board, 9 1/2 x 12 3/4 in. (24.0 x 32.3 cm), in a period Egyptian revival frame (under glass).
Condition: Minor surface grime.

N.B. While the location cannot be determined with certainty, Roberts exhibited several Egyptian subjects at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1905 and 1906.

Condition Report

The work is on heavy paperboard with a stencil of an anchor and caduceus on the reverse. Toning to the edges of the paperboard, minor varnish discoloration, minor surface grime.

The paperboard is slightly smaller than the backing board, and the specific measurements of the painting are 9 1/4 x 12 5/16 in. (23.5 x 31.3 cm).
