Elizabeth Grandin (American, 1889-1970)

The Sergeant/Portrait of a Gentleman in Uniform
Signed and dated "EGrandin 09" u.r., monogrammed "EG," numbered
"#124," and stamped by the Grandin Library, Clinton, New Jersey, on the reverse, identified on an exhibition label on the frame backing.
Oil on canvas, 26 1/8 x 21 3/8 in. (66.5 x 54.2 cm), framed.
Condition: Canvas deformations with paint loss u.r. quadrant, retouch, craquelure, stretcher bar marks.

Exhibitions: Sunlight and Shadow: American Impressionism, 1885-1945, Smith Kramer Inc. Fine Art Services, catalogue no. 28.

N.B. Elizabeth Grandin left her estate to the Grandin Library in Clinton, New Jersey. The library is named after the artist's uncle, Daniel Grandin.
