Description

Mid 19th C. unsigned, oil on canvas scene of the American ship Eliza Mallory under full sail. Attributed to William G. Yorke (American 1817-1892). The Eliza Mallory was built at Mystic in 1851-52 for the Hurlburt line of New York, wrecked in Florida in 1859. The rear of the painting has a mark on the stretcher indicating "built by Chas. Mallory Mystic Conn. 1852." Original, un-restored condition. 24"x35".

Absentee bids will be accepted prior to the commencement of the auction for the convenience of bidders who cannot attend the auction in person. This service is a courtesy to our clients, and will be handled in a discreet and fair manner. Successful purchasers are requested to arrange for payment and pickup in a timely manner.

All persons wishing to place a bid must register for a bidding number. At that time, two forms of identification must be provided to complete the registration process.

At our discretion, we reserve the right to hold any lot or lots, until payment has been made in full, and funds have cleared the banking process.

A buyer's premium will be added to the successful bid price, and is payable by the purchaser, as part of the total purchase price. The buyer's premium is 18% with a 3% discount for cash or check payments. Artfact.com purchases will be charged 21% buyer's premium.

All purchases subject to 6.35% CT sales tax, unless we are presented with a valid resale certificate.

Absentee bidding through Artfact.com is available as a convenience to clients. As with any technology, there may be some unforeseen complications. Russ Antiques & Auctions, LLC does not guarantee the successful completion of bids through artfact. Being present at the auction is the only way to guarantee your bid will be honored as you desire.
