2 volumes, 2υo (540 x 380 mm). Text volume with portrait of Eiffel and illustrations in text. Atlas with 53 double-page lithographed plates, most in color, 13 photographic plates and one colored map of the environs of Paris. (Some minor darkening to margins, 2 photographic plates with minor chipping to corners, plate 22bis torn, with neat repair on verso.) Original green half morocco (front joint of text volume cracked, some rubbing, wear to edges). Provenance: Mexico, Association of Engineers and Architects (presentation inscription signed G. Eiffel).

FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 94 (plate vol. number 464) of 500 copies of the first complete monograph on a modern building. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY EIFFEL on the half-title: "Hommage G. Eiffel." It has served as the standard for all subsequent studies on the architecture of 19th-century metal structures. The Eiffel Tower was the marvel of the 1889 Paris Exposition Universelle. The present publication coincides with the 1900 exposition, again held in Paris. In 1900, the Eiffel Tower was still the tallest structure in the world. En franais dans le texte 326. (2)
