Description

EDWARD MILLINGTON SYNGE (1816-1913). Self-taught landscape painter, etcher and mezzotint artist, much of his work executed during his travels in France, Spain and Italy. Many of his plates appeared in The Art Journal, and The Graphic. An etching with tone of a Parisian river scene with bridge, 9"x12", Paris, 1909. Signed "E. M. Synge 1909" at bottom image and again in bold pencil on mount. Overall 121/2"x19". Mount laid to little larger backing. Two small light stains touch etching edges; corner tips torn with paper loss to backing easily matted out.
