Description

Edward McCluney (Virginia, b. 1949), "Liberated Woman," original intaglio print, editioned (14/75), titled, and signed and dated (1974) in lower portion of the image, label from Brentano's gallery In New York along with short bio mounted to verso, measures 18 x 8 inches to the edge of the matt, overall in the frame, 24.50 x 14.25 inches. CONDITION: Good. An African American printmaker, Edward McCluney earned his MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 1969. Influenced by Alex Jackson, Jack Coughlin, and Gabor Peterd, McCluney has taught at the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston' Santa Reparata, Florence; and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge. His art is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts and the National Center for African American Art, Boston; MIT and Harvard, Cambridge; Yale University, New Haven; Samuel L. Jackson and Damon Wayons, Los Angeles.
