Maschgan studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and with Diego Rivera in Mexico in the late 1920s. She worked as a WPA artist, and exhibited at the National WPA Conference of Artists (1940). She exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, ULC Art Competititon, Associated American Artists, and the Illinois State Museum.
