38" x 52", signed and dated. Wuerpel studied with Whistler and Gerome in Paris. He was the Dean of the St. Louis School of Fine Art and was well known for his atmospheric landscapes. He exhibited extensively and won awards at the St. Louis Expo (1904), Pan-Pacific Expo (1915).
