FIRST EDITION, one of 2 issues published in the same year (the other : Rome, Nicolo Allegri), of this album depicting the events of the siege and assault of Malta by the Turks in 1565. Together with the sea battle at Lepanto in 1571, this victory stopped the oriental expansion of the Turks in the western part of the Mediterranean. Engraved title, 1 plate with 55 portrait medallions and 14 large military plates (40,5 x 53,5 cm) by Lucini (1610-1661) after the frescoes by Matteo Perez d'Aleccio (1547-1616) in the palace of the Grand Master of the Order in Valetta.RARE COMPLETE COPY on heavy paper.# Atabey 734; # The Ottoman World. - Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused
- All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more), works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series. Please note that "inc." means, in French, "not complete".
