Eamonn O'Doherty (b.1939) PASIPHAE, 1996 bronze; unique 23 by 36 by 14cm., 9.25 by 14in. by 5.5 inches Exhibited: RHA, Dublin, 1997, catalogue no. 343 (illustrated in catalogue) In Greek mythology Pasiphae was a woman who rejected the amorous advances of Zeus, who in spite placed a curse on her, causing her to fall in love with a white bull. The bull in turn spurned Pasiphae, so she disguised herself inside an artificial cow; the result of the ensuing union was the birth of the Minotaur.
