Durante Alberti belonged to the large Alberti family of artists, from Borgo San Sepolcro. He was the son of Romano, who was the secretary of the Accademia di San Luca, founded by the Zuccari. Perhaps Durante's most important commission was the decoration of a chapel in the church of San Girolamo della Carità, but he also painted various works for other churches.
