Item Overview

Description

DOROTHY WAUGH (1896-1996) NATIONAL AND STATE PARKS. Circa 1934.
40x27 inches. U. S. Government Printing Office.
Condition B+: minor loss in right margin; tears and creases in margins; pinholes in corners. Paper.
Unlike the other posters in Waugh's series for the National Parks, this bold, modernist poster in yellow, red and gray, differs in the manner in which it was printed. The gray areas on the geometrically rendered skier and in the image have been created using a photo-offset process. Her other posters were all created by letter press. The Library of Congress dates this poster from 1930, which seems too early, as her other posters were created during National Parks Year in 1934. Ski pl. 8, Resnick 19.
