An out-of-series copy from an edition of 35 copies numbered I-XXXV and marked "exemplaire d'artiste" or "exemplaire d'auteur" printed on various papers, this copy on japon nacré and marked "exemplaire d'artiste" (i.e., Beltrand), from a total edition of 221 copies.

A moving tribute to Raoul Dufy. Dorgelès dedicated his narrative of his refuge?or "forced vacation"?from the Occupation to Raoul Dufy, who sheltered him in a small village in Haute-Garonne from June, 1940 until the autumn of 1944. Dufy's vivid, loose watercolors, reproduced here on chine, record their moments together during that time.
