Literature

STC 7030; Keynes 9 (referring to this copy)

Provenance

Henry Maister, ownership inscription at head of title; I.A. Shapiro, ownership inscription on front free endpaper and autograph notes on upper pastedown: "This edn. is rare. Notes

Ignatius his Conclave, first published in both English and Latin editions in 1611, was Donne's principal published attack on the Jesuits and the doctrines of Cardinal Bellarmine, written in consequence of Donne's empoyment by the strongly anti-Catholic Thomas (later Bishop) Morton.
