XXVI Sermons...The Third Volume. Printed at the Charge of Dr. Donne...to be sold at his House in Covent-Garden...at the several Booksellers-shops in London and at Westminster-hall, 1661

Condition Note: folio, first edition, third issue of title-page, woodcut device on title, woodcut headpiece and initials, reader's underlinings and marginal markings in red pencil, contemporary sheep, five pin-holes and one small ink-stain to title-page (not affecting text), very light dampstaining to lower margins, corner of E1 torn away (no loss), some spotting to a few pages, small marginal wormholes to outer margins of last few gatherings, some wear to covers, hole in lower cover repaired with calf, rebacked, corners repaired

Notes

I.A. Shapiro notes on the front free endpaper: "This [copy] was wholly in its original binding until war damage to the building in Manchester where it was housed (1940-44) caused the hinges to crack. It was then rebacked with the loss of the first paste-down, but this is the orig[inal] free leaf".

Keynes records only six copies of this issue ("Printed at the Charge of Dr. Donne"), including the present copy.
