Dong Xiwen (1914-1973) is a renowned oil painting artist, having studied at Suzhou Fine Art School, Hangzhou Fine Art School and Shanghai Fine Arts School. After 1946, he taught at National Beiping Art School, and later on became head of Oil Media Studio and taught in the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He was a member of the Creativity Board of Chinese Artists' Association. His representative works include of The Birth of New China, Spring in Tibet and Red Army Marching Along the Grassland. Many of his work were published in Selection of Dong Xiwen's Works and Collection of Dong Xiwen's Paintings, etc.
