Note:
The subject of this painting, Don Gerischer, was a close friend of Don Bachardy and his life partner Christopher Isherwood (author of many celebrated novels including A Single Man, now a Tom Ford film). During the final months of Isherwood's life, Gerischer lived with the couple and helped care for Isherwood. In gratitude for Gerischer's assistance, Bachardy gave this portrait to him as a gift. It is a rare example of a Bachardy portrait on canvas.
