To capitalize on the recent sequel to The Wizard of Oz (L. Frank Baum's The Marvelous Land of Oz , 1904), W.W. Denslow issued his own sequel: Denslow's Scarecrow and the Tin Man (1904). The short-lived syndicated Sunday comic page was the artist's response to Baum's similar Queer Visitors from The Marvelous Land of Oz. Here the Scarecrow is dressed similarly to Fred Stone in the "Hooray for Baffin's Bay" number in The Wizard of Oz musical extravaganza.
