Description

Dennis Smith (American/Utah, b. 1942), a chocolate-patinated bronze figure of a young girl, her hair in pigtails tied with ribbons, lying on her stomach reading a book, signed, dated "Dennis Smith '90" and numbered "4/12" on the rear edge of her left pant leg, h. 18", w. 14", l. 46". Note: Dennis Smith graduated from Brigham Young University and attended the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen. His sculptural pieces range from large garden sculptures to small, figurative bronzes and mixed media assemblages, but he is best known for his life-size sculptures of children. His public commissions include sculptures in The Children's Hospital, New Orleans, Louisiana; San Antonio Zoo, San Antonio, Texas; American Embassy, Prague, Czech Republic; American Embassy, London, England; and American Embassy, Moscow, Russia.
