Description

Nuremberg: 1697. Copper engraved map on laid paper, no color, engraved by Erik Joonsson Dahlberg (1625-1703). Originally from the chronicle of Samuel von Pufendorf, being an official description of the war of Sweden with Poland and Denmark in the years 1655-60. The map shows the battle between the Swedish and Polish troops in the year in 1655. Samuel Pufendorf (1632-1694) was a German jurist, political philosopher, economist, statesman and historian. The Chronicle, from which comes the present copper engraving , one of Pufendorf's most significant historical writings. 14-1/2" x 20-1/4" overall in mat and frame. "
