Item Overview

Description

Tall glass sculpture of orchards in vessel, Seattle, WA, 1998. Incredibly detailed and all hand blown. Vase signed and dated 1998; Vase measures 19" tall. Flowers up to 32" tall. Debora Moore was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1960 and was educated at Pratt Fine Arts Center, Seattle and Pilchuk Glass School, Stanwood, Washington. She was Visiting Artist in Residence, at the Museum of Glass, Tacoma, Washington and Artist in Residence at the Zanetti School, Murano, Italy. She has been a instructor at Pratt, Pilchuk and the Hilltop Artist in Residence Program in Tacoma. In 1998, she was accepted as a member in the African American Design Archive in the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum. Debora Moore’s glass orchids are hand-blown, unique pieces. Always intrigued by nature, the artist found her voice in glass by creating graceful sculptures of flowers. She now concentrates her energy exclusively on orchids. Moore creates a watercolor for each piece and works out the palette for her orchid flowers on paper first. She then blows the flowers and leaves, taking her cue from nature, but heightening the color with artistic license. While capturing the fragility of the flower in glass, Moore’s blooms are a powerful homage to nature’s infinite possibilities. **This item is Pickup only or Shipping on furniture offered through the On the Go Transport 580-353-9539, The UPS store 843-202-0141 or locally AJ Williams & Sons 843-442-0462.
