The illustrated image is a previously unrecorded portrait of Prinsep by Wynfield. See J. Hacking 2000, pl. 33, for another print of the other portrait study in this lot.
CATALOGUE NOTE

Valentine Prinsep, the artist, was also the nephew of Julia Margaret Cameron, and provides a link between the bohemian art world of 1860s London, based in the West End, and the Little Holland House set presided over by Sara Prinsep, Julia's sister and Valentine's mother, in Kensington.
