William (1674-1725) was the eldest son of Frances Scott and Lady Henrietta, daughter of William Kerr, 3rd Earl of Lothian. He was a member of the Faculty of Advocates in 1702; married firstly, Elizabeth, daughter of John Brisbane and Margaret, Baroness Napier, in 1699; and secondly, Jean daughter of Sir John Nisbet.
