Several members of the Cay family posed for calotypes in 1845. Albert Cay, a well-known Edinburgh wine and spirit dealer, was distinguished by a doggerel encomium in Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine for Sept. 1851 (p.552), starting 'Who dare to say / that Albert Cay / is not the king of wine? - / Whose bins inspire / such generous fire / when cordial Tories dine?'
