Lot 69: DAVID GIBSON (FL. 1788-1797)

A young officer, facing left in red coat with white-piped blue lapels and collar, black stock and white jabot, gilt epaulettes, white cross sash with gilt brass plaque, powdered hair en queue ; cloud and sky background signed and dated 'Gibson 1797' (lower left) oval, 2 13/16 in. (72 mm.) high, silver-gilt frame, the reverse centred with a gilt-metal mounted oval panel of plaited light-brown hair surrounded by translucent blue glass on a radiant wavy guilloch‚ foil.
